Amber Epling-Skinner brings a perspective few can: she’s been the reporter demanding answers, the strategist framing a leader’s message and the elected official actually accountable for the decision.
A former journalist and longtime communications professional, Amber has spent more than two decades working in high-stakes environments across state and local government, politics, higher education, nonprofits, business, advocacy and public education. She has advised elected officials, university presidents, CEOs, senior executives and boards, led cross-functional teams and multimedia campaigns, managed complex issues and served as a spokesperson when the moment demanded it.
She is comfortable on both sides of the microphone. Amber has written hundreds of speeches — from commencement addresses for university presidents and keynote speeches for statewide elected officials to floor speeches for legislators and stump speeches for her own successful campaign to the local school board. As an elected official herself, she knows what it means to make a consequential decision, stand behind it, answer tough questions and be accountable to the people it affects. Being on the other side of the microphone has given her a deeper understanding of what it actually takes to be the principal she has spent her career serving.
Amber understands that reputation is earned over time but can be lost in an instant. In an age when AI can generate a thousand words in seconds, Amber understands that great communication is about more than the words on a page. The right message, delivered by the right messenger, with heart and authenticity, can give people a reason to listen, believe, care and ultimately act.
